What is a Fifth Sunday Singing? Four times a year, any month with five Sundays becomes an occasion for community worship across Appalachian churches. By tradition, a different congregation hosts each time — opening their doors to singers and listeners from every church in the area, regardless of denomination. It's one of the oldest and most beloved expressions of community faith in East Tennessee ridge country.
Fifth Sundays fall on: March 30, June 29, August 31, November 30

"A church that nobody can find is a light under a bushel."
Sunday Holler started with a simple observation: across four counties of some of the most church-going country in Tennessee, you couldn't find a single place online to look up when services were, what revivals were coming, or who was hosting the fifth Sunday singing.
Facebook posts disappear. Word of mouth only travels so far. And the people who need to find a church — newcomers to the area, families navigating grief, people just looking for a place to belong — had nowhere to look.
This site exists to change that. It's not affiliated with any denomination, any association, or any single congregation. It belongs to the community, and it stays free — always.
If your church is missing, add it. If an event isn't listed, submit it. If you have a prayer need, share it. Sunday Holler works because the people of this region make it work.
Southern Baptist, Missionary Baptist, Primitive Baptist, Free Will Baptist, Methodist, Church of God, nondenominational — all are listed, none are favored.
No listing fees, no sponsored placements, no advertising. A church's position in the directory is not for sale.
No single person keeps this current — the community does. Submit updates, corrections, and new listings anytime.
This isn't a national directory that happens to include East Tennessee. It's built specifically for the ridge and valley country of Claiborne, Hancock, Grainger, and Union County.
